PA Rifle Season Has Started

Monday was opening day for rifle here in Pa. Yes, my family and I were out hunting. We enjoyed a gorgeous 60 degree day however, this meant that the hunters were sitting longer than usual and the deer weren't being pushed. We did manage to come away from Monday with 3 button bucks. Not bad for 5 people hunting. In Pa, there are antler restrictions in place which means you can't shoot a buck unless it has 4 points on one side. I was fortunate enough to see a nice 6 point walk within 15 yards of me and I was hunting on the ground, however, I couldn't shoot it. It was nice but only had 3 on each side. I also had a 4 point point walk up to me. I did see buck but not anything that was legal. I did manage to take one of the 3 button bucks in the afternoon. That was nice. I had to whistle at him to get him to stop as he was leaping by me. He did stop and I got off a quick shot. He went down right away. My brother did manage to harvest a doe on the first day as well. He moved to a different location as I was going to push for him before we came in to eat lunch. As I started to push, I heard shooting from his directions. I called him on the radio and he had shot at a deer running across the field but didn't think he got it. I told him I would continue to push to see if anything else comes out. He then started shooting again. Another doe came out and he was able to get a good shot on it. We found it and he was successful. My dad, mom, and I ventured out on Tuesday but were unable to spot any deer. My sister did come out with us in the afternoon and she saw a beautiful tall rack running across the field but couldn't count points as she only saw the rack and half of the body. She also say a 4 point - two y's on each side and a spike. That was it. No more hunting for me until Friday. We are expecting to get a cold front moving in and it could dump alot of snow on us. That would be nice for hunting and getting the deer moving but it doesn't do nothing for the cold fingers. I will keep you posted as we continue to hunt for the next 2 weeks after one of the big bucks I've posted on this blog in the past.

Rifle Season is Coming Soon

Today we are only 5 days away from the start of rifle season here in PA. I can't wait. I know that there are alteast 3 shooters out behind my house and I am hoping to see one of them come through my stand on the first day. I know alot of people will be out hunting and the deer will be pushed through out the area. We have had a warming trend here lately as we see temps in the 50's for the remainder of this week and into the weekend. Monday is suppose to be the same with sunny skies and 50's. Yes, I would love to see the snow to help track these great whitetail deer but I truely love to see the warm temps because that means I don't have to freeze for the first morning. Sometimes, it can be down right cold out there on opening day. I will keep you updated as I set out to get one of those trophy whitetails that I have been seeing on my camera. Stay tuned as opening day approaches, it could get exciting.

Skunked again

I was out the second to the last day of archery season here in Pa. I hunted all morning just to see 1 guy come through near my stand. It was a beautiful morning very warm but nothing seemed to be moving through my area. I sat until 10:30 that morning.
So, I decided to give it a go in the evening hoping the deer would be moving out to the field to eat. I arrived at my location around 2:30 and was in position by 3:00 with my climber. Again, nothing moving. Didn't see a thing. It was still pretty warm out but skunked again.

Well, Thanksgiving is right around the corner and that also means the first day of rifle season here in Pa. I can't wait. Until then, I will just need to do some more steelhead fishing. I know there are atleast 3 nice size bucks behind my house so that's where you'll find me bright and early in the morning on the first day.

Until next time!

No Luck This Weekend

We'll, no luck for me this weekend. I didn't see anything moving around for me. I did receive a report from my brother in law and he had about 9 doe and a small buck come into him but that's it. It seems that here in Pa the rut is alittle messed up. I haven't seen the bucks starting to chase the doe yet. It's like they are alittle behind this year. I would think that we should be getting into the rut period alittle bit more heavily than the buck seem to be acting. Oh we'll, we'll keep trying.

I have a new product line that I am just finishing gathering the information on and will be excited to tell you about shortly. These products will add to my current product the deer aging tool. These products are great for hunters and I know you will want to use them. I will post more information once I have finalized the deal.

Get out and hunt!
